About Us

PLOT Gallery is a multidisciplinary art space founded in 2015 by Asa-Azriel Rice to create opportunities for incredible emerging and underserved artists, bridge the gap and connecting them with future collectors, while nurturing their individual talents. Originally launched in a small Minneapolis Uptown storefront, PLOT quickly became a hub for young contemporary visual artists in the greater local community.

We curated more than 50 exhibitions and live art events in the first three years. Recognizing the need for deeper impact, in 2017, PLOT expanded into a 3,000 sq. ft. creative campus, evolving beyond a traditional gallery to provide mentorship, workshops, and affordable space for aspiring artists to develop their skills. Now located at George Floyd Square, PLOT serves as a community-driven incubator, offering facilities such as a photography studio, lecture space, and immersive learning environments.

Rooted in heritage, social impact, and creative expression, PLOT reflects Rice’s vision of preserving history, sparking dialogue, and adding to the artistic community. Influenced by Black cultural pioneers and the aesthetics of American pop art, infused with a passion for tattooing. PLOT’s mission explores the balances of providing short-term, long-term, and permanent art, through the lens of storytelling and personal connection to the artist’s work.

PLOT goes beyond exhibitions— seeking to create an ecosystem where artists thrive, grow, and develop sustainable careers. We implore our artists, patrons and collectors to challenge narratives, reframe histories, and leave a lasting impact on their communities.

Mission: Creating Space

We believe art and culture can revitalize communities through communal engagement and creation of safe spaces to explore our spirits wildest expressions. Our contemporary art collection speaks to the current state of the culture. PLOT Gallery is committed to leveraging our cultural capital to increase generational ownership of these safe spaces.

To ensure this we donate a portion our all proceeds to KOMBOA, an organization established to maintain, increase and create perpetual access to communal creative living and commercial art spaces.
